A brand new pottery studio for both beginners and hobbyists alike has opened in Dubuque, with the owner herself being someone who stumbled into her love of the craft.

The Telegraph Herald/Biz Times reported that Dubuque Pottery Studio, located at 470 Central Avenue, has been open for roughly a month. The studio is owned and operated by Kyla Glendenning, who fell in love with pottery about a year and a half ago. She became a weekly attendee at her local studio in Fort Lauderdale, FL, where she was living at the time.

When she moved back to Dubuque to be closer to family, she made the decision to open a studio of her own. That dream became Dubuque Pottery Studio, which boasts several different class options for curious parties.

Options include a one-time pottery wheel class for newcomers to experiment with the art-form, while another is a six-week beginner course for those who want to their hand at pottery for the long haul:

[Classes] are really great for a date night or girls night or to make friends. People tend to open up more when they’re doing something with their hands - Kyla Glendenning, per Biz Times

Dubuque Pottery Studio will begin offering memberships within the next month. Memberships will be available to those who complete the six-week course or have prior pottery experience. They'll be granted access to the studio seven days a week.

Glendenning's mission is predicated on fostering community via an art-form that is close to her heart. Furthermore, she allows customers to purchase custom orders at her shop as well. You can see a list of available classes and the studio itself on Dubuque Pottery's Studio's official website, and on Facebook too.
