One of the most legendary comedy singer-songwriters will be making his return to Iowa in 2025 for his newest tour, which promises to be bigger, filled with high-energy production, and yes, even weirder!

"Weird Al" Yankovic needs no introduction, but I'll give him one anyway. He's one of my all-time favorite singers. I own every CD. His concert in Merrillville, IN in 2008 was the first concert I ever attended; a high bar I'm still not sure any have cleared. Although relatively quiet on the new music front later, Al has still been a steady fixture in pop culture, with the 2022 biopic, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, being an instant sensation, as well as making an appearance on MeTV's Collector's Call.

To the delight of many, Al announced last week that he would be hitting the road again for his "Bigger & Weirder Tour." Although not set to kick off until June 2025, Al is setting the bar high with what he teased on his Instagram today:

We’re back to doing a full-production high-energy show and playing the hits… and we’re super-sizing the band for this one - adding 4 more musicians! - so we can play a few things we’ve never been able to play live before! And our opening act will be the amazing Puddles Pity Party. This show is gonna be INSANE! - "Weird Al" Yankovic, per Instagram

When I read this, I couldn't head to his website fast enough to see the dates. Luckily for us Iowans, "Weird Al" is making the Hawkeye State one of dozens of stops on his upcoming summer tour!

"Weird Al" will be playing the Des Moines Civic Center on Friday, June 27th, 2025! The show marks Al's first show in Iowa since July 2022 when he performed at the Paramount Theatre in Cedar Rapids. He also performed outdoors at The Arena in East Dubuque, IL back in September 2000, a venue I can find nothing about online, but coworkers tell me it was a great show!

As if my bank account needed to be tempted event more, VIP upgrades are available for all concertgoers and include the following:

  • Post-Show Meet & Greet with Weird Al
  • One (1) Professional Photo with AL – Customized with your show info*
  • One (1) Personally Autographed Tour Poster
  • One (1) Exclusive Weird Al Blanket
  • One (1) VIP Commemorative Laminate & Lanyard
  • Early Access to the venue
  • Crowd-free merchandise shopping prior to the show

In addition to individual photos with Al, groups and couples will receive a complimentary photo with the man himself.

Presale begins at 10am on Tuesday, September 24th. Fans can register for a code on Al's website. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, September 27th. You can find all the tour dates at this link! I'm going to have to start saving now!
