With the exception of vegetarians, who doesn't love a thick, juicy steak? It's one of the most satisfying meals I can think of. A date-night at a lovely, low-lit steakhouse is one of the signature pleasures of eating out. You wait all day, maybe eat a light snack, and then feast on a steak, maybe a baked potato side, some shrimp, crab legs, and wash it down with an old fashioned. What could be better?

Clearly, I haven't eaten lunch today! If you're trying to find the best steak money can buy in Iowa, the website Cheapism has looked at the best, most acclaimed steakhouse in each of the 50 states. Sadly, for Tri-Staters, it's a bit of a haul to get to one of the highest rated steakhouses in the state.

Archie's Waeside Café (commonly shortened to Archie's Waeside) is the Iowa restaurant highlighted by Cheapism. Located in Le Mars, IA (nearly five hours from Dubuque) and in business since 1949, the restaurant was founded by owner Bob Rand's grandfather, Archie Jackson, and has since been revered for top-of-the-line steaks.

Whether you want a filet, a ribeye, or Archie's Special Extra Thick, this is the place that makes your steak to perfection. The menu features nine cuts of dry-aged, hand-cut steak, all source from farms in northwest Iowa and northeast Nebraska, ensuring local freshness and flavor.

Rachael Ray of all people named Archie's Waeside one of the best steakhouses in America. Archie's also serves up what looks like mouthwatering shrimp and seafood, including South African lobster tail, scallops, and salmon. If you're not feeling a steak, they also have an assortment of pork chops, chicken breasts, and burgers.

Even their wine selection has garnered considerable praise:

Rachael Ray named Archie's Waeside Café one of the best steakhouses in America, and its wine selection was a semi-finalist for a James Beard award in 2014. In 2015, Archie’s was awarded the James Beard American Classic award. - per Cheapism
