Wisconsin’s First Buc-ee’s Slated to Open in April 2027
Buc-ee's is a phenomenon onto itself. It's the mecca of gas stations. It's a destination for folks on long road trips. It's an oasis of food, merchandise, entertainment, and more.
Buc-ee's locations include everything from a bakery, fudge bar, kolaches, brisket, an extensive variety of sodas, coffees, and Icees, and even Dippin' Dots ice cream. They have their own brand of merchandise as well, ranging from shirts, hats, pants, blankets, and their own assortment of snack food.

Buc-ee's is Coming to Wisconsin in 2027:
It's still surprising to me that Buc-ee's isn't in Wisconsin at this time. There were serious efforts to bring the first location to DeForest, WI, but local opposition has led that project to stall. Now, in an article published by WGN highlighting forthcoming Buc-ee's all across the country, it appears Wisconsinites will finally be able to get in on the Buc-ee's fun come 2027.
Construction is almost underway for a Buc-ee's location in Oak Creek, WI. The so-called "gastination" presently has a few dozen locations, mainly in the southern region of the country, and are also famous for having over 100 gas pumps, which is a significant contributor to their massive size.
The Oak Creek, WI location will be at the southwest corner of I-94 and Elm Road. It will be 74,000-square-feet in size on 27.5 acres of land. Groundbreaking is scheduled for April 7th, 2026, with an opening date sometime in April 2027, per the City of Oak Creek's website.
Why Buc-ee's Has its Share of Local Critics:
The new Buc-ee's location in Oak Creek has faced some backlash from Milwaukee County. Residents voiced concerns about traffic buildup, the environment, and public safety. Per WISN, Smiths Grove, KY Mayor David Stiffey, whose town has a Buc-ee's, has stated the gas station has had a very positive impact on the area.
Having been to a Buc-ee's (specifically the Springfield, MO location), I can attest that it's both a jubilant experience and an overwhelming one. If you've never been, you're going to want to carve out 30 minutes, for not only are they massive, but they're crowded to boot. Whether you're craving brisket or chicken tenders and fries, the food is sublime, and the store has its own brand of snacks (my favorite are the "thin" potato chips, but there are still so many I have yet to try).
