Checking In From The Mat: Week One At Farrell’s Extreme Bodyshaping
I wanted to follow up to let you know I actually made it back for a workout for the first time in well over a year.
I have been talking with Mike and Jenn at Farrell's Extreme Bodyshaping about getting back in. When the pandemic started last year, one of the easiest things for most of us to cut out was our workout routines. My wife and I are both vaccinated and FXB is using all the safety precautions they can, so there's no excuse to not get moving again.
Last Monday I made it back in for my first class in a long time. The place still looked the same, with a few tweaks to the building, including a new check-in desk and some awesome motivational wall art with inspirational quotes from The Rock and the late Kobe Bryant.
I remembered most of the warm up, but I didn't remember jumping jacks and push ups being so hard! That's what happens when you take too much time off.
After our warm up we got to hitting the bag. It really was like riding a bike... most everything came rushing back. I got winded pretty quickly, but I know as I get a few classes under my belt I should get some of that back, too.
I intended to hit as many classes as could last week, but being busy at the station and at home I only got to two classes last week.
This week I plan to do more.
Me and Lisa are also trying to clean out the fridge a little bit. I told her if we got rid of all the bad stuff it would be easier for me to get back to eating a little cleaner through the week. (It's helpful to have a supportive spouse, too!)
The whole gang at FXB have been super friendly and welcoming. It's so great to see so many of my friends as I get back into the routine.
I haven't yet weighed myself. I thought I would spend a few weeks just getting myself on track before I really look at what improvements I would like to make.
I'll keep you posted. In the meantime, I remind you that you no longer have to wait for a new 10-week session to get started... you can join anytime! So what are you waiting for? Join me for a class sometime soon!
You can find all the details at the FXB WEBSITE.
I'll keep you posted on how things are going. I hope to see you soon!
