East Dubuque is Home to an Utterly Magical Christmas House

If you're looking for some holiday cheer for you and your family, there's a sneaky great option nestled in the Frentress Lake neighborhood in East Dubuque that is sure to get you in the Christmas spirit.

Larry Regan, aka "Mr. Christmas," has opened up his home to show the community his incredible collection of Christmas items. Gathered over the decades, Regan has amassed 70 decorated trees, 700 nutcrackers, and a litany of Christmas-related toys and trinkets, per a piece in 365ink Magazine. On select days, the public is welcome to tour the home, which is billed as "Mr. Christmas' Annual Holiday Tour."

Located at 191 W. Kroll Road in East Dubuque, Regan's home is a full-fledged holiday spectacle. He spoke with 365ink Magazine about his collection and his love for Christmas.

Regan is from Dubuque, but has moved and lived all around the United States, bringing his holiday display to each of the communities in which he's resided. He moved to East Dubuque in 2012, and now has a collection that dominates his 7,000-square-foot home. The contents of his holiday decorations are so plentiful that they required construction of sheds and other buildings for storage during the other 10 and a half months in the year.

The first year was just the main floor because the house wasn’t finished, but now with the basement finished, it’s moved down there, where many collectables stay up year round, and also up to the second floor. There’s a lot of the old lights, old ornaments, stuff we had as kids. Things that bring memories and comfort to me, and to many others - Larry Regan, per 365ink Magazine

Regan doesn't have any children, but has help from his godson, siblings, and mother, who arrive in October to help decorate his home. Even when his home is wall-to-wall lined with decorations, Regan still lives there. He sees over 1,000 visitors each year, and has had up to 200 people tour his home at once.

As of this writing, there are two days available to take Mr. Christmas' Annual Holiday Tour. Those dates are December 20th and 21st at 5pm. For larger groups, or to reserve a private guided tour of some kind, you can contact Regan at 563-503-1462. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
