Two different trees at a Wisconsin Christmas tree farm were finalists to be the 2026 Official White House Christmas Tree. Now, a decision has been made as to which one will spend this holiday season in the interior of the White House.

A 30-foot concolor fir from Silent Night Evergreens Farm is the lucky tree that will be en route from the tiny town of Endeavor, WI to Washington D.C. ahead of the Christmas holiday. To commemorate the selection, a ribbon decorated in a U.S. flag was tagged onto the tree, which made the selection official.

About the Wisconsin Family Farm Behind the Official White House Christmas Tree:

WKOW News caught up with David Chapman, a third generation tree-farm owner in Endeavor, who won the national contest to have one of his gorgeous firs selected for the White House. This is not the first time such an honor has been bestowed upon the family. Silent Night Evergreens Farm has provided Christmas trees for former Presidents Bill Clinton in 1998, George W. Bush in 2003, and Donald Trump's first administration in 2017. This is now the fourth tree of Chapman's that will stand proudly in the White House:

It's always an honor...it's still an amazing experience, and this year especially, we're taking my my young daughters who are 8 and 10, and their excitement is very contagious for everybody - David Chapman, per WKOW News

If you're like me, you might ask: how does the White House select a Christmas tree for display? White House Superintendent of Grounds Dale Haley revealed that there are some guidelines: they want a tree without any holes, without a "double-top," and one that smells fresh but not one that bears an overwhelming odor.

Haney added that the tree will be trimmed down to 18 feet 6 inches and then sent to the White House ahead of Thanksgiving. First Lady Melania Trump will be the one to accept it. Furthermore, the tree will be placed in the center of the Blue Room, meaning its back won't be perched against a corner, so the whole tree must be "perfect."
