This Christmas Horror Movie Takes Place in Wisconsin
For those who like their Christmas entertainment unconventional, with a side of bloodshed and suspense, there's one that's set on the local front that will cater to your tastes.
With the release of the new Silent Night, Deadly Night movie — which, in itself, is a remake of the controversial 1984 movie — now in theaters, it's a good time to look back at the first remake of the film, which was released in 2012. It was primarily released direct-to-video (remember those days?), and actually takes place in Wisconsin.

About Silent Night:
Set in the fictional town of Cryer, Wisconsin, Silent Night revolves around a deputy (Jaime King) who is forced to work on Christmas Eve by her boss (horror icon Malcolm McDowell). While on the job, she realizes that an Evil Santa is prowling around the town, offing everyone: men, women, and children alike.
It's a simply premise. One that has served the test of time in the holiday horror space since Silent Night, Deadly Night was released. Back in 1984, the film caused a stir amongst Christian activists and conservatives due to its portrayal of a killer Santa Claus.
Nowadays, the real world is scarier than most horror films. Silent Night, Deadly Night walked so other irreverent holiday movies like Bad Santa, Santa's Slay, and later, Silent Night could run.
Catherine has been watching the Silent Night, Deadly Night series (there's five from the original franchise plus two remakes), and when she put on Silent Night (2012) on Sunday night, I was reminded how fun this movie is. It's well-paced, plenty gruesome, and underscored by capable performances from the likes of King and McDowell.
Furthermore, it ends with a banger, heavy metal reworking of the Christmas standard Silent Night, fittingly called "Silent Night, Deadly Night" by The White Coffin Terror.
Where Can You Watch Silent Night?:
