Day two of Big Apple Bagels' "Stocktober Fest" saw even bigger donations than the first! Thanks to the boundless hospitality of folks in the Dubuque and Tri-State area, we were able to collect over $200 in just a couple of hours, as well as several more boxes of food!

I was grateful to be able to broadcast at Big Apple Bagels both yesterday and today! From informing listeners about the event to interacting with folks making up more than one busy breakfast rush, it was one of the most fun events I've been a part of in my brief time in Dubuque!

If you're not already aware, Big Apple Bagels is holding their "Stocktoberfest" event in collaboration with St. Stephens Food Bank from October 13th - 15th. Big Apple, located at 1675 John F. Kennedy Road in Dubuque, is collecting non-perishable food items at their shop with the goal to fill up a truck full of food for people in need just in time for the winter season. Resources Unite is also assisting with the event!

Monetary donations will also be accepted. $1 can feed up to five families, and $5 can feed up to 20 families, given how much spending power St. Stephen's has!

People of all ages dropped by to make monetary or food donations at Big Apple Bagels. One sweet woman brought in a gigantic box filled with fruit cups, fruit snacks, graham crackers, and other non-perishables that will surely be enjoyed by those in need. The ultimate goal for Stocktober Fest is to assure that families have something on their kitchen tables during the chilly fall and the especially brutal winters, and that includes the holiday season.

Everyone deserves a meal, at the end of the day.

There is still time to donate to Stocktober Fest! This event goes through tomorrow (Saturday, October 15th) morning. Simply stop in Big Apple Bagels and make a food and/or monetary donation. Note the big Stocktober Fest easel and assorted food items as the designated drop-off place for non-perishables.

Thanks to all who have made these last two days such a wonderful success for Big Apple Bagels, St. Stephens, Resources Unite, and those in need all around the Tri-State area!

Big Apple Bagels is located at 1675 John F. Kennedy Road in Dubuque.
