DoorDash Declares This Chain Iowa’s “Most Loved” Restaurant

Even though we know we probably shouldn't, sometimes DoorDash absolutely hits the spot. Whether you're up late at night, have had one too many libations, or you and your spouse are just too lazy to go out and get food yourself, DoorDash in itself is a comfort treat every now and again.

With Valentine's Day quickly approaching, DoorDash revealed a list of popular restaurants nationwide. Across all 50 states, they found the "most loved" restaurant over the last six months based on which places see a large influx of orders.

Their pick for Iowa is a curious one because it's only in Des Moines and it also doesn't involve pork tenderloin, burgers, or any of the quintessential Iowa foods that come to the front of the line.

Unsurprisingly, DoorDash gets a lot of action in Des Moines, which explains why Tasty Tacos, a hugely popular chain in the state capitol, was deemed the state's "most loved." I've never been, but per The Des Moines Register, the Pleasant Hill-based restaurant has a devoted fanbase in Des Moines thanks to its original flour tacos along with their homemade, fluffy flour shell.

The most loved dish at Tasty Tacos? DoorDash says their softshell taco with seasoned beef, lettuce, and cheese was picked as the favorite. Spicy jalapeno poppers, wrapped in bacon with a cream cheese filling, came in second.

Tasty Tacos is known to have a plethora of other offerings too, including:

• Nachos
• Enchiladas
• Cheese bites
• Softshell tacos with chicken, beef, cheese, or pork

The Des Moines Register states that Tasty Tacos began in 1961 at the hands of Richard and Antonia Mosqueda, who adopted the phrase "Nada Es Imposible" ("nothing is impossible"). Their first location was at 2224 Easton Boulevard. In those days, it was the only restaurant in Des Moines that served tacos. To this day, the Mosqueda family still owns the business, with five of their six children directly involved in operations.

Fittingly too, Tasty Tacos is named the "most loved" Iowa restaurant by DoorDash a week after opening a new location on 86th Street in Clive. The Des Moines Register also listed the other Tasty Tacos locations in the state of Iowa:

• 5847 S.E. 14th St., Des Moines
• 6326 Mills Civic Pkwy. in West Des Moines
• 2401 S.E. Delaware Ave. in Ankeny
