Dubuque’s Evening of Light Hosting Olympic Gold Medalist, Auction
After months of planning and organizing, Riverview Center's Evening of Light is almost here. On April 20th, 2023, the Grand River Center will not only welcome a beautiful evening of support and empathy for sexual assault survivors, but an Olympic Gold Medalist, who will share her own story before hundreds of community-members.
That woman is two-time Olympian Aly Raisman, who will be the keynote speak for the 2023 Evening of Light. The annual event is put on by the Riverview Center, an invaluable resource for Dubuque and the Tri-State area.
Riverview Center works with victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. They know better than anyone that there's no template you can hamfist on one person's experiences. Recovery looks and feels different for each individual. Sexual assault advocacy, in itself, has many dimensions.
Courtney Chaffee of Riverview Center stopped by to talk about the event, which will commence at 5pm on April 20th with a cocktail hour and a silent auction. Dinner will follow at 6pm with Aly Raisman set to speak around 6:30pm. A raffle drawing and closing remarks will round out the evening around 8:15pm.
Evening of Light celebrates the resiliency of child, teen, and adult survivors of sexual and domestic violence. Funds are raised to ensure survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence get the help they need to begin and further their journey of healing.
Tickets to the event are now on-sale and available for purchase at this link. Note that supporting an event like this will allow Riverview Center the ability to continue serving both men and women who have been victims of sexual assault and/or domestic violence. Every little bit helps, and the Evening of Light is a massive boon for Riverview Center to continue providing a wealth of services.
Riverview Center's Dubuque office is located at 1789 Elm Street. Dubuque's Evening of Light event will take place Thursday, April 20th, 2023 at 5pm at Grand River Center.
