The big question going into New Year's Eve weekend is always the same: "where is the party?" There's usually several of some kind, but some rise above the rest. On Dubuque's very own Schmitt Island, there will be two parties this New Year's Eve, and both will be hard to miss.

Q Casino and the Dubuque Fighting Saints have been working hand-in-hand all year. Q Casino helped the Fighting Saints' Dubuque Ice Arena with necessary foundation and infrastructure work to assure the facility be maintained. Now, the two are joining forces to celebrate the strong start to the season and the kickoff to 2023.

At 5pm on New Year's Eve, the Fighting Saints take on the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders for what is sure to be a scrappy, highly entertaining matchup between two teams that love giving one another fits. Following the game, an after-party will take place at the nearby Q Casino around 8pm, with The Pork Tornadoes performing at 9pm.

All ages can attend the after-party, but The Pork Tornadoes' show is 21+ and you need a ticket to attend.

Robert Miller, President of Business Operations for the Dubuque Fighting Saints, stopped by the studio to talk about the upcoming matchups ahead of the New Year's Eve game, as well as the after party taking place at Q Casino:

[The team and I] got together when we were building the schedule and we really wanted to do something on New Year's Eve. It was something we didn't get a chance to do last year [....] We haven't had a game on New Year's Eve in a long time, so we really and truly think with the connection we have with Q Casino that we can make this into just a really powerful night [....].

Miller noted that given the fact that Midwest winters are often treacherous and unpredictable, this hockey game and after-party twofer is perfect because, snow or shine, the fun is indoors.

The folks at Q Casino and the DRA have done an incredible job at giving the city of Dubuque high quality entertainment. They've also already begun planning for upgrades to Schmitt Island, which will likely come to fruition in a few years' time.
