Local Artist Flexzello is Using Dubuque as His Muse for Music
Faithful listeners and readers alike know I love having young, hungry, creative, and entrepreneurial people on my show. In late 2024, I told you all about Aidan Brown, the 19-year-old running Falbo Brothers Pizzeria in Dubuque. Before that, I did a feature story on Caleb Keling, a student who won Kennedy Mall's Auntie Anne's kiosk while attending a Missouri college.
Now, I'm here to tell you about Denzel Jones, better known as Flexzello, a rising musician who lives in Dubuque, whose new single is rapidly making waves online.

Flexzello dropped by the radio station looking to get connected with myself. Within minutes of our conversation, I knew he was going to crush it on the "Y105 Morning Show," and that's exactly what he did. He got behind the mic and talked about his life story, which began on the South Side of Chicago and eventually led him to the University of Dubuque in 2016:
Flexzello, a talented musician, co-founder of FlexGang Music Group, and a passionate supporter of community-driven music. Born and raised on the vibrant streets of the South Side of Chicago, my journey in the music began during my college years.
After facing some challenges during time at the University of Dubuque in 2016, I made a life-changing decision to pursue a true passion: making music. Fueled by my deep emotional connection to music and an innate desire to share my stories, I embarked on a creative journey that would shape my unique sound and style - Flexzello's bio, per Denzel Jones
Presently, Flexzello is riding high off the release of his newest single, "Small Town World." The song itself is a vibrant amalgam of country and hip-hop stylings; a loving ode to the small-town life in terms of a location being a shared community, and how one might have to travel to other small towns within the locale in order to find what they're looking for.
Simply put, it's a very fun track that has a lot of personality and character, reflective of the artist behind it. A music video/visualizer is also in the works this summer. Flexzello commented on the track too:
Originally, I made this song to represent my diversity and who I am and what I stand for. I wasn't gonna [sic] keep making music, but as time goes on, God [gave] me every sign to keep making music. Not just for myself, but to help others too - Denzel "Flexzello" Jones, per email correspondence between us.
Not just an artist, Flexzello is proving to establish himself in the world of music business. He is the co-founder of his music group, Flex Gang, as well as his label, Forever Grateful Entertainment (FGE).

You can stream Flexzello's music, including his new single "Small Town World," on Apple Music and Spotify. You can see his full output on his Apple Music profile too. Furthermore, you can take a listen to my interview with Flexzello below!
