Meet the 19-Year-Old Running One of Dubuque’s Busiest Pizzerias
The entrepreneurial spirit in Dubuque is rapidly growing. In October, I linked up with Caleb Keling, the 22-year-old owner of Auntie Anne's in Dubuque's Kennedy Mall. He won the kiosk in a contest in college while studying business. I was blown away by his story.
Last week, I met Aidan Brown, the new owner of Falbo Bros. Pizzeria in Dubuque. Brown is 19-years-old, and just getting started not only in his young adult life, but in his entrepreneurial career as a restaurant proprietor. No Shark Tank necessary.
I knew I had to get Brown in the studio to talk about his story. Brown took over Falbo Bros. Pizzeria in Dubuque from Jeremy Noel in November. Prior to owning the popular lunch/dinner spot, Brown worked at Pancheros Mexican Grill in Dubuque, and even sought to become a shareholder in the company at one point:
I worked there for almost five years until I was eventually upper management [....] I always wanted a different way than the standard way, or just working. I liked the aspect of running a business, or doing something my own way, or more-or-less creating a better situation for myself than just living in a situation [....] I honestly reached out to the Pancheros owner and asked them if they were interested in having more shareholders because I knew they were opening up more locations. They said because of their current contract, they couldn't. - Aidan Brown, per our interview
Another door opened relatively quickly when Brown's mother saw her friend Noel was selling Falbo Bros. Pizzeria. Noel made the choice to sell the business to Brown, who has plans to keep everything from the loyal customer base to its influence of Chicago-style pizza alive and in tact.
Brown was even kind enough to let me conjure up a special for Falbo Bros. Pizzeria, which will first take effect this Friday, December 6th!
On Fridays at Falbo Bros. in Dubuque, take advantage of the "Pulaski Pizza Special" by mentioning "Y105" when ordering for an additional 10% off!
I never had any kind of restaurant special named after myself, so this is a pretty sweet deal. In addition, Falbo Bros. in Dubuque offers free delivery on Mondays (with code "FREEDEL" for online orders), a one-topping large pizza on Wednesdays for $14.99, and other deals you can find on their Facebook page!
Take a listen to my interview with Aidan Brown, the new owner of Dubuque's Falbo Bros. Pizzeria, and follow Falbo Bros. on Facebook! Falbo Bros. is located at 3250 Kennedy Circle in Dubuque.
