Getting To Know The “Miracle League Of Dubuque”
Every month our friends at Kwik Stop, Dairy Queen and Fazoli's feature their Kwik Care canisters at each of their cash registers in the hopes you'll drop your change in to help area non-profit organizations. This month you can help "Miracle League of Dubuque."
This morning we chatted with Kelly Heysinger, board member for Miracle League of Dubuque, who filled us in on who and what their organization is all about.
Kelly said the Miracle League of Dubuque is an all-inclusive baseball field and playground for people of all abilities.
The field is located at 2970 Miracle League Drive in Veteran's Memorial Park (by Wahlert Catholic High School). The board was organized about 5 years ago when the idea came forward to create the field giving residents of all abilities to play. The park was added on in the last 2 years.
Miracle League of Dubuque has ongoing fundraising for future projects and building opportunities.
The field and playground are open to the public on a first come, first served basis. In addition, you can reserve the baseball field by contacting Leisure Services through the City of Dubuque. There are plans in the future to have baseball leagues play on the field.
Money received by Miracle League of Dubuque will fund future projects and buy other items used in the field. Currently they are trying to furnish their 'quiet room' with sensory equipment, purchase ADA accessible bleachers and add more shade structures for people visiting the park.
If you'd like more information, you can find everything at the Miracle League of Dubuque website or online through the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque.
What a great thing to have in the Tristates! Help support Miracle League of Dubuque all this month when you visit any Dairy Queen, Kwik Stop or Fazoli's!
