A Supplier Recall Impacts Two Hy-Vee Food Products

Hy-Vee has just revealed a third-party supplier is issuing a recall of two popular products sold at their grocery stores.

The West Des Moines-based grocer had voluntarily issued a recall for two items due to the potential for salmonella contamination. Salmonella is a bacterial infection that can cause diarrhea, a fever, and terrible stomach cramps that can last up to a week if left untreated. Some with severe variants of those symptoms might need hospitalization or antibiotics in order to recover.

Hy-Vee is recalling two varieties of its Hy-Vee Cream Cheese Spread and its bulk-packaged Cookies & Cream Mix, according to a recent press release. These products are manufactured at different third-party facilities around the Midwest, and sold under Hy-Vee's private label and bulk packaging program.

Once Hy-Vee was notified about these products, they voluntarily issues a recall. At this time, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of any of these products, per the press release.

The recalled products were distributed to Hy-Vee, Hy-Vee Drugstore, and Dollar Fresh Market locations across the company's eight-state region of:

• Illinois
• Iowa
• Kansas
• Minnesota
• Missouri
• Nebraska
• South Dakota
• Wisconsin

Hy-Vee has voluntarily removed all affected items from its store shelves. Customers who purchased the product should dispose of it immediately or return it to their local Hy-Vee store for a full refund.
