How was Halloween? Did you participate or opt to skip the festivities this year?

For whatever reason we waited until Saturday to stop for candy and some pumpkins.

Mom was working, so me and Jacob got back to the house and did a few chores. We figured we'd wait until about 4pm to carve and paint our pumpkins before the trick-or-treaters arrived.

About that time I was laying down newspaper when I looked outside and saw kids coming down the street.

We live in East Dubuque and even though we had the trick-or-treat times neatly posted to our website, I didn't even bother to look at the times. I just figured it was 5 or 5:30pm to 7 or 7:30pm.

Oops. East Dubuque was 4 to 6pm. My bad!

We decided to set the pumpkins up with a dinner tray full of candy and then socially distance ourselves by the garage to look at the neat outfits and greet people. (Jacob is ten now and said he didn't really want to go door-to-door, so he opted to stay home with me.)

At first I thought it was kinda goofy to have trick or treating so early, but having the sunlight and seeing the kids was actually enjoyable.

We had almost a hundred kids come by and I think I ate almost as many Snicker minis!

How was your Halloween? I'd love to see the fun you had... in fact, if you post a photo of you or your kids celebrating on our Facebook post... I might just give you one more treat! On Friday morning I'll randomly pick one person or family to grab a $25 gift card to Falbo Bros Pizza on Kennedy Circle off JFK Road.

So lets see those costumes!

Good luck!
