Hy-Vee Continues Covid-19 Vaccinations In 8 States, Including Iowa
You may have heard this week's news on the continuing effort to vaccinate Americans.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has given the go-ahead to recommend a third vaccination for the elderly and other medically vulnerable Americans with a booster dose of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine, six months after their second dose.
Hy-Vee, Inc. put out a press release earlier today to announce that those booster doses are readily available at their over 275 Hy-Vee Pharmacy locations in eight states, which includes all three Dubuque Hy-Vee locations.
Those who are recommended to get the vaccine include the following:
- Long-term care facility residents
- Individuals ages 65 and older
- Individuals ages 18 and older with underlying medical conditions, (as outlined by the CDC)
- Individuals ages 18-64 years who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting
Currently, the Moderna and J&J vaccines won't have a booster shot available until it's authorized by the FDA and CDC.
If you're planning to visit a Hy-Vee for your third vaccine it would be helpful if you bring your vaccine card from your original shots, although they can look you up in the Immunization Registry Information System, too.
If you haven't gotten a vaccine yet, this is a great time, as Hy-Vee is still offering a $10 Hy-Vee gift card to patients who complete their COVID-19 vaccination, including Pfizer vaccine recipients who receive their COVID-19 booster, with Hy-Vee through November 1st, 2021.
You can schedule your appointment in advance by visiting this Hy-Vee WEBSITE.
The booster vaccines are FREE to all eligible patients, regardless of your insurance coverage!
