A Beloved Soup and Sandwich Restaurant in Dubuque Has Closed
A beloved restaurant in Dubuque, known for sandwiches, soups, salads, and other delicious offerings, announced they would be closing their doors, effective immediately.
Knockout Melts has become known in Dubuque has a place to get hearty sandwiches and soups. The eatery, located on Pennsylvania Avenue, was a go-to for melt-style sandwiches. Knockout Melts other offerings, such as broccoli cheese soup, Korean BBQ pork sandwiches, jalapeno popper melts, and "grownup PB&J," were among their notable offerings.

Now, those who loved their food will have to find a new place to get their fix for melts and soups. Knockout Melts owners Terri and Kathy took to their Facebook page to announce that the restaurant would be closing, a decision they said came with "mixed emotions."
The two made sure to thank their loyal customers, for without them, the restaurant's success wouldn't have been possible:
It's been an amazing ride, and we’ll miss serving you all! We want to thank each and every one of you for your loyalty and support over the years. You’ve made this place something special, and we won’t forget it.
While this chapter is closing, we are forever grateful for the memories and connections we've made. We hope to see you again in the future! - per Knockout Melts' Facebook post
On a separate corner of Facebook, a member of "Voices from the Tri-States" posted a photo of Knockout Melts' front door with a posted sign saying they were closed. The sign reads:
Knockout Melts & Rock Salad are permanently closed.
Thank you for your business and your friendship throughout the years!
Much love, Teri & Kathy & Staff
Beneath the post, a deluge of comments from folks expressing remorse over the loss of another family-owned and operated business in Dubuque.
News of businesses closing has been very common lately. Just last week, it was revealed that Joann will be going out of business within the next several weeks, including the location in Dubuque. The city is poised to have some real estate open to lease before long.
Although you never want to see any business in town close, it's always sadder to see a local eatery go. Those are much tougher to replace on a personal and quality level. Read more about Knockout Melts in Dubuque closing on the restaurant's Facebook page.
