Every month our friends from Kwik Stop fundraise for a local group or non-profit. This month they're busy raising money for "Research For the Kids."

To take part all you have to do is drop your change (or bills) into a Kwik Care canister at any area Kwik Stop, Dairy Queen or Fazoli's Restaurant location. They recently added a 'round up' option, so when you make your purchases it allows you to round up your purchase to the nearest dollar.

If you're in an organization that could use the funding of Kwik Care, applications for next year will be accepted through the month of October. You fill out an application on the Kwik Stop WEBSITE and a committee goes through to select 12 non-profits for the next year.

This month Kwik Stop is supporting Research For the Kids, an organization that was started back in 2009 to support research for brain cancer and heart defects in kids through the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital in Iowa City.

Over the last 13 years they've raised an amazing 1.8 million dollars for their cause!

Not only can you donate to them through the Kwik Care canisters all month long, but you can take part in their 13th annual Poker Run (Ride/Drive) on Saturday, September 18th, 2021.

Registration will be at Happy's Place (at 2323 Rockdale Road in Dubuque) from 8am to 11am, with the ride departing at 11:30am. The route will include stops at Two Gingers in Cascade, Dirty Ernie's in Farley and the Dubuque County Fairgrounds.

There's a $20 registration fee which includes a meal at Happy's Place. During the ride you'll also collect cards (for the poker run) and there will be cash prizes for the best three hands.

Silent auction items will open at the start of registration and a live auction begins following the ride at 6pm at Happy's Place.

If you'd like to donate money, prizes or auction items, purchase merchandise or raffle tickets, or simply have questions about the event, call Mark Reiss at 563.542.9063 or visit the official Research For the Kids WEBSITE.

This is a really great cause. I hope you support it.
