A popular rapper who help create one of the most energetic and charged subgenres in hip-hop in the mid-2000s is coming to Dubuque to perform as part of Q Casino's 2024 Summer Concert Series.

Just one day after announcing that Billy Currington will be performing on Friday, June 28th, Q Casino has announced that the-one-and-only Lil Jon will be performing on the Back Waters Stage the following day, Saturday, June 29th!

Lil Jon needs no introduction. He's been an enduringly popular figure in music and media alike.

He helped pioneer the hip-hop subgenre known as "crunk," an up-tempo, club-oriented style of music characterized by its high energy, recurring chants, audience involvement in the quotable lyrics, heavy bass, and excessive synths. Who can forget "What U Gonna Do?" or "Snap Yo Fingers" by the man himself? These songs ooze energy and beg you to rap and jump along.

Even as his musical output has slowed in recent years, Lil Jon's ability to get the club crunk hasn't waned in recent years. His song "Turn Down for What" is still played at parties all over the country, and his collabs with LMFAO, most notably "Shots," remain the monster jams they were when they were initially released. Crunk Juice is an album I frequently revisit, mainly when I need a boost in confidence or energy.

Lil Jon will be taking the Back Waters Stage along with Mike Jones, who will serve as the opening act for the evening. Of course known for his reciting his phone number (281-330-8004) in many of his songs, Jones is best known for the song "Still Tippin'."
