You may have heard a new voice on Friday mornings on Y105. Meet Emily...

Hey there!

My name is Emily. You may have heard me chatting with Chris a few times on the Y105 morning show over the past few weeks. I'm so excited to be learning more about the world of radio and hope to one day be a familiar voice within our community.

First, a little bit about me. I am an experienced vocalist in the tri-state area. As a matter of fact, I've been performing in one way or another since elementary school! I am presently the lead singer of the local band "The Struggle" and we have been playing shows all over the Midwest for quite some time.

Music is, and always has been, my biggest passion. There is nothing quite like the feeling of a live show or concert, whether on stage or in the audience. The energy of a good live show is almost magical in a sense. However, as we all know, this past year has been rough on not only musicians but music lovers alike. My hope, and I'm sure many others as well, is that come springtime and the return of concert weather we will see the return of live music in all sorts of venues.

Outdoor venues are able to open again and Covid vaccines are being distributed, which in turn leads to an opportunity for the live music community to start thriving again. This is what we've been waiting for!

That being said, I would love to hear from you about what you are most excited about come this new season! Have you been missing live events? If what are some of your favorite venues? What has been your take on how musicians have adapted in the past year? It has taken some creativity and ingenuity for musicians to continue working through this time. We have seen a rise in live streams and virtual tip jars, but does that truly match the experience of a physical live event? On one hand, the convenience factor is amazing. Watching a live event in pajama pants from the comfort of my own couch? Yes, please! On the other hand, I can confidently say a video has never evoked the same emotion for me personally as a truly live event has. I'd be so interested to know if you feel the same! Are you itching to get back out or do you prefer this new digital world of live events?

Let us know your thoughts!

In the meantime, I hope you continue to tune in and join me on Friday mornings as I explore the world of radio.

Have a great weekend!

~Emily
