What are Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin's Favorite Donuts?

Donuts are one of the most perfect delicacies our world has ever seen. They're irresistibly delicious, come in a variety of flavors, and there's no shortage of places where you can find quality offerings.

National Donut Day, which occurs on November 5th, celebrates the versatile pastry. To commemorate the holiday, the website "Yay! Coloring Pages" found the most popular donut in each of the 50 states. I thought it would be a fun exercise to look at the favorites for our three states: Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin.

Iowa's Favorite Donut:

Yay! Coloring Pages analyzed Google Trends, including the search volume for 30 popular donut types across 50 states, including D.C, over the last year.

The favorite donut amongst Iowans is one that isn't shared by any of the other 49 states. That donut is rainbow sprinkles, always an attractive and flavorful option. I must admit, I'm not the biggest fan of sprinkles in general. They get stuck in my teeth, and as a kid who had braces, I never got over my apprehension towards sprinkles.

Illinois' favorite donut is more common, shared by five states. That variant is chocolate frosted, an old reliable favorite right up there with glazed and powdered sugar. I literally just had a chocolate frosted donut from Hy-Vee Fast & Fresh yesterday. Rich, cakey, and topped with frosting that felt dense. You can't pass up the opportunity to grab a chocolate frosted donut.

Wisconsin's Favorite Donut:

Finally, Wisconsin's favorite donut is a quirky one. It's pumpkin. Not a bad option whatsoever, and a great option with coffee, but riddle me this, Wisconsin: what donut do you opt for the other 11 months of the year?
