This Legendary Steakhouse is Finally Coming to Iowa

One of the most acclaimed national steakhouses is finally getting a presence in the Hawkeye State, with a grand opening set this summer.

Ruth's Chris Steak House (sometimes just referred to as simply "Ruth Chris") will be opening its first Iowa location in West Des Moines, IA on August 14th, 2023. The Des Moines Register reported back in February that the new 15,000-establishment will seat up to 400 diners and feature three patios, three bars, six private dining rooms, wine lockers, a double-sided fireplace, valet parking, and a multi-level parking garage.

Ruth's Chris has more than 100 locations across the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The steakhouse launched in New Orleans back in 1965, and specializes in custom-aged, corn-fed Midwestern beef. Ruth's Chris steaks are cooked at 1,800 degrees, and only seasoned with salt, pepper, butter, and a pinch of parsley, and served on a sizzling-hot 500-degree plate, per The Des Moines Register.

The new West Des Moines location plans to serve lunch and dinner daily as well as brunch on the weekends.

Ahead of the restaurant's grand opening on August 14th, reservations for dinner, lunch and brunch will open on Wednesday, August 9th by both phone and Open Table, per Ruth's Chris' website.

The West Des Moines steakhouse was designed by Phanomen Design, an Indianapolis-based design company, who used eco-friendly building materials and equipment, including:

• LED lighting
• Certified energy efficient AC units
• Certified energy efficient hood fans
• Certified energy efficient ovens
• Certified energy efficient refrigerations
• Certified energy efficient tankless water eaters

Even the restaurant's HVAC system has an air purifying system, as well as luxury 200 multifamily housing units above.
