Why are cinnamon rolls out of stock everywhere?

I was gathering our menu items for our Super Bowl evening and we enjoy cinnamon rolls with our chili (if you haven't tried it...you need to).  I was venting to a bunch of friends in a group chat that we haven't been able to find cinnamon rolls for months.  No less that 4 people sent a picture of their local store with empty shelves where the cinnamon rolls used to live.

It all started with toilet paper, now it's lumber, coffee, snacks, blue jeans, tires and everything else we used to buy on demand.  When ever we "needed" it.

So, you KNOW there are going to be delays in the tax refunds this year.  Why wouldn't there be? Lifehacker has made a list of things you can do to to expedite the delivery of your money.

Here are four tips to get your refund as fast as possible this year:

  • File ASAP.  You say you're going to do it every year...so instead of waiting at least another month go ahead and make it happen now before everyone else.
  • Use e-filing.  They call it "snail mail" for a reason. The IRS says e-filing can get you a refund within 21 days . . . at least twice as fast as if you use the mail.
  • Don't screw up.  If you make mistakes this will obviously slow down your refund. So take the time to do it right.
  • Request direct deposit. It's always a great day when you check your bank account and suddenly your IRS money magically appears instead of getting the check in the mail and forgetting it in your car for a week.

By the way...if all of this is too much to fathom...don't worry.  You've actually got a couple extra days this year since April 15th is "Emancipation Day" which is a holiday in DC and also a Friday.  So we've got until Monday, April 18th to procrastinate doing our taxes.

Quad Cities Live Music Venues That Aren't Live Music Venues Anymore

Nostalgia Alert!.

We've compiled a quick list (by no means comprehensive) of venues in the Quad Cities that are no longer music venues but to us will ALWAYS hold a special place were we saw some great shows and made some incredible memories.

To many of us the live music scene wasn't just a concert here & there. It was an every weekend affair. And it didn't matter if it was a touring band or your buddy's band. We were going to be there with a beer in hand and scream along with guitars that were way too loud in a room that was improperly treated acoustically and make some bad decisions.

Craft Breweries in the Quad Cities Area

We're very lucky to live in an area with such an amazing, thriving "craft beer scene". You'll be able to find everything you could want.

Not sure what you want? That's ok. The bartenders at these establishments are very well versed and can guide you through a wonderland of Ales and Lagers.

From "coffee infused" to "riff infused".

From "pale ales" to "peanut butter porters".

Fruity, Sour, Hoppy, Malty, Crisp, Crushable beers in all shapes and sizes.

Crowlers, Growlers, Cans & Kegs...the Quad Cities Craft Beer scene has it all.

And of course...a great beer isn't complete unless it's paired with some amazing food. Whether it's made in the breweries kitchen or in the food truck in the parking lot...brewers know that people love food with their beer.
