About Oh Happy Play in Dubuque Closing its Doors:
Founded by Jacqueline Hunter, Oh Happy Play was forged with one idea in mind: "what happens when a child doesn't get the chance to play?" Per Oh Happy Play's website, Hunter has worked with children and families for over 25 years. Her work with the nonprofit prioritized keeping toys out of landfills by redistributing donated gently used toys to reduce waste while providing area children with their next source of fun.
Oh Happy Play took to Facebook to announce they'll be closing their doors, in a lenghty post:
With a heavy heart I am sharing that Oh Happy Play will officially be closing its doors at the end of May as I have decided to move closer to family.
I am deeply grateful for every family that supported, donated to, and trusted us over the years. It has been such a privilege to serve this community and create a space filled with joy, play, and connection - per Oh Happy Play's Facebook page
The nonprofit noted that as closing preparations are underway, local organizations and community programs will be granted the first opportunity to shop for the remaining toys and other materials in effort to assure their shelf-life will continue to be long. They are also offering shelving and storage fixtures to anyone who would be willing to take them at no charge.
