It was a banger evening at Carlos O'Kelly's Restaurant in Dubuque for Cinco de Mayo 2022. It was the first time the event had come together since the pandemic began. I couldn't have asked for a better first event since I joined Y105.

Hundreds of people came out to indulge in drink and food specials. Many walked away with prizes ranging from National Mississippi River Museum tickets to Corona coolers to ZZ Top tickets with our 99 Bottles of Corona Giveaway. Many qualified early on the website and during the morning show. Others were able to have a chance at coming away with a prize once we were set up and rolling with the broadcast.

Doing this event helped remind me yet again why I got into radio and why I adore its impact. Radio gets people out in the community. It offers people a chance to learn what's happening in their backyard. After almost two years of events getting postponed or outright cancelled, with large gatherings downright impossible to host in some parts of the country, it was also another reminder of how great it feels to be out with friends.

Rock Steady crushed their set with covers of timeless favorites. I couldn't tell you how many margaritas were sipped or how many tacos were eaten, but I'm sure it was several hundred.

Finally, I want to thank everyone who came up to me and introduced themselves, made conversation, and extended compliments. It's not easy being the new guy in a big city, but it's made easier with the warm reception many of you provided last night.

I hope everyone who came out had a fun time last night. It was wonderful seeing and meeting so many of you. Thanks for listening and keep posted with Y105. We've always got something going on!
