Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’ Returns to the Top 10 on Billboard 200 Chart
Prince's Purple Rain returns to the Top 10 at No. 4 on Billboard 200. The remastered album, which sold 52,000 total copies since it was released on June 23, contains a two-disc Deluxe Edition of early-to-mid-80s outtakes, and a four-disc Deluxe Expanded Edition of Purple Rain.
The 1984 classic album that contained hits like, "When Doves Cry," "Purple Rain," and "Take Me With You," was re-released to fans and came with bonus music that had never been released. From the Vault & Previously Unreleased opens with "The Dance Electric," which is an 11-minute jam session, the bonus album includes 11 unreleased songs.
On this deluxe album, fans were given more music and actual footage of Prince. The Deluxe Expanded set includes a DVD of a 1985 Syracuse show and also features the Single Edits & B-Sides disc. The original 1984 version of Purple Rain spent 24 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard charts.
