She might only be 26-years-old, but Sierra McCormick already has a 17+ year acting career under her belt. After getting her start on the game-show Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?, she appeared in family comedies like Ramona and Beezus, and eventually the Disney Channel show A.N.T. Farm.

However, McCormick's latest film is a total contrast from her past works. The movie is Edge of Everything, and it's coming out on VOD platforms like Amazon and iTunes on June 7th, 2024 and will see a DVD release on June 12th. I had the privilege of seeing Edge of Everything this week. It's a dark coming-of-age story about a grieving 14-year-old girl, who goes down a path of drugs and alcohol in the company of her friends.

I got to chat with Sierra McCormick this morning about Edge of Everything. In it, McCormick plays Abby, a young girl trying to adjust to life without her mother. She moves in with her father (Jason Butler Harner) and his girlfriend (Sabrina Friedman-Seitz), an already unideal situation. Things drastically change when she meets Caroline (Ryan Simpkins), a young woman who gets her to experiment with alcohol, and eventually, harder drugs.

From there, Abby goes down a destructive path. McCormick is versatile in her performance, even if her character remains a powder-keg of anger, sadness, frustration, and loneliness throughout the film. I got McCormick to comment on some of her favorite coming-of-age films in our interview. She happened to highlight one of my favorites as well!

One [that] resonates deeply with me is this movie Ghost World from 2001, with Thora Birch, and Scarlett Johansson, and Steve Buscemi. I feel like that movie really captures that post-high school [....] directionless you feel, where you're not quite a real adult, but you're no longer a kid in high school with this regimented schedule and all these high school distractions[....] - Sierra McCormick

Beyond her new movie, McCormick entertained me by commenting on her early roles, including her appearance on Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? and Supernatural. She has also guest starred on a handful of episodes of the Larry David show Curb Your Enthusiasm, which just concluded a multi-decade, 12 season run on HBO.

Take a listen to my interview with Sierra McCormick below, and read more about her new film, Edge of Everything, on IMDb!
