A legendary horror host from Chicago, who has been at it for 46 years as a beloved and recognizable character, is once again going big for Halloween.

Svengoolie is a national TV show that airs at 7 pm CST Saturday nights on MeTV. Hosted by Rich Koz (playing "Svengoolie," a caricature in skull-like makeup donning a moustache, goatee, wig, and black top-hat), the program features a low-budget horror film punctuated by skits and commentary involving the titular character himself.

Svengoolie's "Halloween BOO-Nanza" is Back for the Fourth Year:

Like I did last year, I was fortunate enough to get to chat with Rich Koz himself. Koz has been an affable presence on Chicago, and now national, airwaves for decades. Throughout the month of October, Koz will be hosting Svengoolie's Halloween BOO-Nanza, which features back-to-back horror movies presented by Sven himself as well as the "House of Svengoolie," featuring Gwengoolie (Sarah Palmer), the 800-year-old vampire Nostalgiaferatoo (Bill Leff), and IMP (Scott Gryder).

Since House of Svengoolie started following Svengoolie on select Saturdays, MeTV becomes a long-running showcase of horror movies across different generations. Svengoolie's relatively new trio of characters often show "newer" films, from the 1980s and 1990s, and their incorporation on this year's Halloween BOO-Nanza is another welcomed addition.
