A living legend was spotted at grocery stores all across suburban Illinois last week. There were fans to meet, memorabilia to sign, and ultimately, a beer to promote, one that seems larger than life just like the man himself.

The one and only Hulk Hogan, one of the greatest and most recognizable wrestlers of all-time, made appearances all across the state of Illinois last week, hawking his brand new "Real American Beer." His first stop was at a Jewel-Osco grocery store in New Lenox, which kicked off a 10-store tour across the Land of Lincoln that lasted from September 18th - 20th.

The wrestling icon made appearances across a bevy of stores in various Illinois towns, including:

  • New Lenox
  • Oak Law
  • Chicago
  • Lakemoor
  • Lockport
  • North Aurora
  • Champaign

The Hulkster's new "Real American Beer" is now available to purchase in Wisconsin and Illinois, the 12th state to access the new 4.2% ABV light lager. Hogan made clear that Illinois holds a special place in his heart too:

I’ve got some unforgettable memories from my time wrestling in this state—like the Rosemont Horizon in ‘85, where I defended the WWF Championship. Now, I’m back with Real American Beer, and we’re here to make history once again. - Hulk Hogan, per a press release on the event

At the various supermarkets and liquor stores at which Hogan appeared, he treated fans to autographs, photos, and an opportunity for those 21+ to crack open a cold one, rewarding some with exclusive Real American Beer swag and merchandise.

The name "Hulk Hogan" is synonymous with wrestling. Hogan's wrestling career started in 1977, but took on a life of its own in 1983 when he joined the World Wrestling Federation (now the WWE). The 1980s wrestling boom was made possible because of Hogan's larger-than-life personality, his appearances at WrestleMania, and his many accolades and championships. Hogan's 1,474-day reign as WWF Champion was the longest of its era.

In the 1990s, similar to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Hogan outgrew the wrestling arena and branched out into being an actor, in silly but fun films like Mr. Nanny and Suburban Commando, not to mention a plethora of appearances on TV shows.

Now, Hogan is looking to bring people together over a few frosty cold ones per his latest venture:

America’s at its best when united. And if there’s one thing we can all agree on, it’s the simple pleasure of sharing a beer. That’s why we started Real American Beer — to bring people together, one beer at a time. - per Real American Beer's website
