A popular breakfast spot in Dubuque saw a vehicle plow through the front of their restaurant on Saturday, February 28th.

Big Apple Bagels in Dubuque has been a go-to eatery for multiple generations, but now is going into something of a literal rebuild mode following a single-vehicle accident that shattered one of their front windows and left a wreckage of glass and bricks in the dining area of the restaurant.

Like many, I first caught wind of the accident on the popular Voices from the Tri-States Facebook page. The following Monday, Big Apple Bagels in Dubuque posted to their own Facebook page with some context on the incident:

Saturday we had a car accidentally drive thru our building. Everyone is fine and Thankfully no one was hurt. Thank you to the fire dept. And police who helped us get everything taken care of. We are still OPEN! It's a little rough looking but the great food and service is still the best. Thanks for everyone's concern. We appreciate our customers so much!! - per Big Apple Bagels (Dubuque, IA)'s Facebook page

Per Judy Faulhaber, the owner/operator of the Dubuque franchise, there were no injuries to the driver nor any patrons. At this time, the cost of repairs is unknown, but there's hope that insurance will cover the damage to minimize the expenses on what is a wonderful business in the area.

It's no secret that Big Apple Bagels in Dubuque is close to the hearts of my listeners and my own as well. Judy and her Big Apple team have allowed Y105 to host many live broadcasts, and Judy prides herself on giving back to local charities, such as Riverview Center and Two by Two Character Development.

If you're feeling hungry this week, consider stopping into Big Apple Bagels. Not only are you supporting a great local eatery run by kind-hearted individuals, you're also helping them through imminent construction. Find out more about Big Apple Bagels in Dubuque on their Facebook page.
