It's rare a day goes by where my lunch and/or dinner-time isn't spent devouring some clips from The Dan Patrick Show. It's become one of my favorite sports shows over the last 10 years. It's a delightful mix of analysis, humor, pop culture, and wisdom from its titular host and his ever-reliable band of co-hosts, who infuse great commentary. It's true a symphony of the best of what can be a toxic medium.

It's even rarer that I see what I saw on a clip uploaded to the show's YouTube channel yesterday. When listening to Dan and "the Dannettes" discuss whether or not the New York Yankees should be allowed to use "torpedo bats" in games, I took note of a familiar, baby blue patch that sat on Dan's desk.

On Dan's desk, for what looks to be the last two weeks, has been an East Dubuque Fire & Rescue badge. If you've watched the show with any regularity, you'll know that Dan Patrick has the utmost respect for first responders. Over the years, he's received countless badges and uniforms from police, fire, and EMT departments all over the world. He's gotten to the point where he rotates them on his desk every few weeks.

As of this writing, the East Dubuque Fire Department badge can be seen to the left of his desk. You can't miss the baby blue color. It can also be seen in these videos:

This isn't the first time something Tri-States/Iowa-adjacent has come up on the show. In 2022, Dan Patrick showed some love to Dyersville in lieu of reports that Field of Dreams would become a TV series. After briefly going over the main points of the series, which is coming to Peacock in the near-future, Patrick remarked:

Dyersville, Iowa. [I've] Never been there, but when you say "Field of Dreams," I always think of Dyersville, Iowa - per The Dan Patrick Show

Then again, ahead of Super Bowl LVIIDan Patrick Show co-host Patrick "Seton" O'Connor made his annual trek to the site of the big game from the show's headquarters in Connecticut. While on the road, he stopped at a bar in Des Moines, IA, and, with the utmost seriousness, told Dan and the Dannettes he might never come home:

Dan, not only am I still in Des Moines, I may never leave. These are my people. This is my town. I believe I found home [....] Phenomenal city. Absolutely incredible. - Patrick "Seton" O'Connor, per The Dan Patrick Show

Finally, in prepping to write this article, I stumbled upon a clip from October 2024 that I somehow missed. It featured Dan Patrick telling the Dannettes that he would love to take a road trip through Iowa. He dreamed of renting a van with the crew, like they were a band, and stopping in all the major cities the state had to offer.

One can only hope he'd include Dubuque in that pitstop, should the road trip ever happen. Learn more about The Dan Patrick Show on their official website.
