Dessert, Dirty Soda Stand Makes an Impact in Dubuque

Since hitting the streets of Dubuque and the Tri-States, a new mobile dessert stand has caught fire in the area and has gained a lot of attention thanks to their colorful social media pages coupled with their many offerings.

Flip & Fizz is the product of a Dubuque-based mother and daughter duo, Cris Lenz and Micayla Tucker. The Telegraph Herald caught up with the pair as their dessert truck has been finding success in the area.

"Dirty sodas" have been taking off all around the country. They were an innovation from Utah, and popularized by The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives as well as social media itself.

In addition to dirt sodas, Flip & Fizz offers 15 bite-sized mini pancakes with your choice of toppings, which range from smores, caramel, Nutella, and a variety of other combinations, per Telegraph Herald.

The mobile dessert shop also has an assortment of beverages: sodas, energy drinks, and Boba, which can be kicked up a notch with cream bases that include vanilla, butterscotch, marshmallow, strawberry puree. Telegraph Herald notes the most popular item is the Blue Oasis, which combines Mountain Dew with pineapple and blue raspberry flavoring along with creme.

Cris Lenz told Telegraph Herald that her and her daughter had talked about starting this venture for over a year before they decided to go for it. They set up a tent at various locations around Dubuque and the Tri-States, and often find themselves going outside the Key City to setup at places like the Dyersville Farmer's Market. They're available for various functions within an hour's drive of Dubuque.

The entrepreneurial mother-and-daughter have hopes to purchase a food truck this winter to improve their mobility as well as their event eligibility. The fact that they rely on a tent setup prohibits them from setting up shop at some events.
