Man with Several Warrants Leads Police on Chase Through Dubuque
A scary situation unfolded in Dubuque on Thursday, January 12th when a man led authorities on a chase in and around the area during the afternoon hours.
34-year-old Everett E. Winfrey of Dubuque was arrested on charges of eluding, operating while intoxicated, and several traffic violations, according to KWWL. Winfrey had warrants for probation violation, controlled substance violation, and escape as well, according to a press release from the Dubuque County Sheriff's Department.
According to police, Winfrey led the deputy on a pursuit through a variety of streets and neighborhoods, including Southwest Arterial, English Mill Road, Crescent Ridge, Fremont Avenue, and on Bradley Street in the South Grandview Avenue area. Stop sticks eventually brought his vehicle to a halt.
But the pursuit wasn't over with that. It continued on-foot until officers were able to catch Winfrey and arrest him.
Winfrey was placed under arrest on his warrants for probation violation, controlled substance violation, and escape. Winfrey is also being charged with multiple traffic violations, felony eluding, and OWI. - Sheriff's Department press release
Per KWWL, by the end of the chase, several area deputies and various officers of the Dubuque Police Department were involved with the pursuit.
In addition to Winfrey's outstanding warrants for violation, controlled substance violation, and escape, he was charged with multiple traffic violations, felony eluding, and operating under the influence (OWI).
