An acclaimed artist from Maquoketa, IA will be the subject of an upcoming episode of an Iowa PBS show that shows "the diverse tapestry of Iowa's people, cultures, and stories."

That subject is Rose Frantzen, whose work has been feature on Iowa PBS in multiple capacities over the last several years. This time, however, she will have an episode of Iowa Life devoted to her and her work: oil paintings of Maquoketa residents, which has garnered national praise from the art world.

Who is Rose Frantzen?:

Rose Frantzen's oil paintings don't showcase ornate structures or historic individuals. Her work showcases residents in her town, and they've gotten her all the way to the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. In this episode of Iowa Life, she will share her process, the stories behind her works, and a look at some of her most prized works.

The episode will also include segments about the Tremble Clefs, a tree enthusiast named Mark Rouw, and the Iowa Gallivant, whom I've written about in the past.

Where and When Can You See the Episode?:

Iowa Life is hosted by Charity Nebbe, who conducts interviews and tells the stories of so many Iowans leaving their mark on the state and its residents.

This upcoming episode featuring Rose Frantzen of Maquoketa will premiere Tuesday, October 28th at 6:30pm (CST) and be rebroadcast on Sunday, November 2nd at 10:30am.
