A Monticello, IA recreational and respite care facility is looking for compassion and dedicated individuals in order to fulfill several paid and volunteer positions.

Camp Courageous is a facility for individuals with disabilities and special needs. It was established in 1972, so this years marks the camp's 50th anniversary. Their first summer, they welcomed 211 campers. Now, they serve nearly 10,000 on a daily basis. With unique activities such as a zipline, indoor swimming, music park, bowling alley, and adventure activities, Camp Courageous offers a one-of-a-kind experience for both campers and staff.

Current paid positions include seasonal counselors and year-round program specialists, per a press release. Separate staff housing, laundry, and meals are provided when working with campers. Camp offers a comprehensive health insurance plan for year-round positions and is among the top camps in pay, benefits, and accommodations.

Volunteering at Camp Courageous provides an opportunity to get involved and gain experience in fields such as nursing, social work, physical therapy, occupational therapy, therapeutic recreation, education, psychology, and sociology. Volunteers have made huge impacts at the camp during respite weekends, overnight camping sessions, and other departments (maintenance, dietary, and administrative).

Back in November, Camp Courageous was Kwik Stop's "Kwik Care" recipient for that respective month. For the entire month, Dubuque-area Kwik Stop and Dairy Queen establishments encouraged customers to donate loose change or round up their totals, with the money going towards the camp. For those looking to make an even greater impact on Camp Courageous, now is your chance!

To apply for a paid position, visit the camp's website. For more information on volunteering, please contact volunteers@campcourageous.org or call 319-465-5916, ext. 2340. For more information on program employment, please contact program@campcourageous.org or call 319-465-5916, ext. 2300.
